If you want to get a book published, you should not write the book first but merely a proposal and send the proposal to prospective book publishers.
The proposal should consist of a brief overview of the book, a table of contents, a sample chapter, a summary of competing books and why your book fills a unique void in the market.
You should send the proposal to publishers that publish books on this topic--one way to find appropriate publishers is either to browse a bookstore or search on the web. One site to check would be the directory of publisher links at www.bookwire.com.
If you want to publish the book yourself, I suggest that you find a distributor--a firm that distributes and actively sells the books of many small puslishers. Again you could look on the bookwire site for suggestions.
Unfortunately many people are under the erroneous impression that book writing and publishing is an easy way to make money. Actually most full time book authors earn very little money--but in the media we hear continually about the few Tom Clancy's that really rake it in.
