The first and simplest way is to say Thank you when they do a job well. You'd be surprised at how many employers don't say thank you. Secondly, you want to offer praise, which is most effective when you do it immediately. Make it clear what you're praising the employee for. Then of course there's always money. If you're going to give away money, make sure it's associated with a specific job well done or a specific goal that has been met. Also, there are several books out now on motivation. Check 'em out.
