FileMaker Home PageAvailable for Windows and Macintosh operating systemsFileMaker Home Page For basic Web page generation, Home Page is excellent. You can generate a simple online business card, with links, in just a matter of a few minutes. Add a few other pages and you can have an entire functioning site up within one afternoon. This program has clear, easy-to-understand menus and all the important features you need are easy to find and access. Home Page offers one-click image linking and bulleted lists (which even in most word processors can be less than easy). It also includes a built-in FTP (file transfer protocol) client that will allow you to upload and preview your site without having to close out of the program. This saves a lot of time in switching between programs when you are finally ready to put your page out on the Web. Some of the best features of FileMaker Home Page include its easy image adjustment. Altering graphics for your Web site is something many site generation programs have a problem with. HomePage offers special tools that make altering images easy. The importing tools allow you to take text from other sources and drop them into your Web page with ease. It comes with a built-in clip art library, which is useful for adding graphics to your site if you do not have a program like MasterClips. It also offers 45 site templates to help generate your site. FileMaker Home Page offers spell and link checking capabilities and wizard-based interfaces to help beginners. But one of the most useful features in Home Page is the global find and replace. You may not think you need this until you make a simple spelling error, such as receipt, and need to change every appearance on your site. The global find and replace will check every line of text on every page. As with any program, FileMaker Home Page has some drawbacks. Although making tables is easy, FileMaker does not show the tables on your screen exactly as they will appear in browser windows. This means that your tables may look skewed on some browsers and you might not know it. FileMaker has no support for cascading style sheets.
