Elements of Yellow Pages Copy

Headline

Identify your company and the area you serve. This should be in bold type or type that is at least a point size or two larger than your body copy.

Business type

Underneath the name of your business, state clearly and in as few words as possible what your business is all about. When developing this copy, include any unique product or service benefits or features that you can offer that your competitors cannot. Try to include any special information that would entice a consumer to call you as opposed to any other business listed under your heading.

Incentives

List any special incentives that your business offers, such as free estimates, free maintenance checks, or what have you. You might also consider offering a money-back guarantee to entice potential customers to call you.

Contact information

List your address and phone number as well as any credit cards that you accept. You may also want to list your hours of operation if they are part of your service or product availability benefits—a twenty-four hour hotline or twenty-four hour beeper service, for instance.
