Peak Performance: 3 Easy Health Tips

3-Easy-Health-Tips You are taking care of your business but are you taking care of yourself? From staying hydrated to eating healthy, learn some simple ways you can stay healthy while running your business.

My name is Kim Laughlin and I’m the owner of Kim Laughlin Health Coaching.

As entrepreneurs, we wear many hats. Oftentimes we pour everything we have into our businesses, but we neglect to take care of ourselves. We’re constantly withdrawing from our energy and we’re not making enough deposits. So today I’m going to talk about three easy steps so that you don’t have to have that happen to you. They’re easy enough so you can start them today.

Number One: We Need to Hydrate

I know that this sounds like a simple step, but this is something that you can start today. Oftentimes, I don’t think most of us drink enough water. Upon waking in the morning—or evening, depending on your schedule—I want you to start drinking 16 to 24 ounces of clear, filtered water before you eat or drink anything else. I’m not saying you can’t have your coffee or your juice or your breakfast. But again, right before you eat or drink anything else, I want to drink those two measured cups of water.

This will jumpstart your organs. You’re going to notice a big difference in your weight—you’re going to drop some weight. You’ll notice a big difference in the clarity of your skin and the clarity of your thinking. If you get migraines, they’re going to diminish. So make sure you make this step. It’s really important.

Number Two: Get Up and Move

A result of sitting all day has been linked to chronic illness. So it’s so very important that you get up and move. My trick is to set a reminder for yourself every hour to get up and move for five to 10 minutes. If you can do it, invest in an adjustable desktop. It may not be moving around, but standing and working can make a huge difference.

Number Three: Eat Properly

Fast food and takeout food is in abundance all around us and convenience comes at a cost. Take a few minutes at home, make some healthy meals—they don’t have to be elaborate—and bring healthy snacks with you. Things like vegetables, nuts and seeds, and things like that. I know this sounds a little bit “earthy-crunchy,” but definitely make the effort.

I talk about this because I want you to rethink food. I want you to think about how food fuels your body and doesn’t just fill your belly. Your body is going to make changes that you won’t like. You’re going to start feeling symptoms. Inflammation causes pain throughout your body and there’s a reason for that: It’s usually because you haven’t hydrated, you haven’t gotten moving, and you didn’t eat properly.

You don’t want to do this to yourself because you need that energy so you can keep your business going.

Summary

So in summary, do those three easy steps: Hydrate. Move. Eat properly. You can’t expect your business to grow if you can’t take care of your body. We do all the nourishing and taking care of business, but you’ve got to remember to take care of yourself.
